General:
This is a senior position and part of 2nd line technical support team within Ericsson GSDC in Romania. The position implies working with deployment and delivery telecom and data com services under managed services agreements with major mobile operators worldwide.
NMS = Network Management System
Responsabilities:
- The Support-Services Engineer is responsible for supporting our internal customers (Front Office / Development) and external customers by providing technical services in analysis and resolution of problems. Both internal and external customers are based either locally or globally.
- The engineer has to be able to ensure that the network is available and we comply to our contractual obligation with our customer. If the network fails, the engineer needs to be able to restore the functionality. The same applies if any products are accessed over the network and they are unreachable due to a network fault.
- The engineer is responsible for fault analysis and correction of all relevant trouble tickets within the area of NMS with full responsibility for lead-time and quality.
- He/she takes responsibility that WLA objectives are being met according to defined fault priority level.
- Participates in a 24/7 “on Call” duty on a regular basis.
- Coordination, planning and reporting according organizational procedures and tooling within the own Back Office.
- Transfer knowledge by training, coaching, guiding, explaining, documenting and handing over relevant knowledge.
- Communicate with sub-contractors/partners/vendors/customers as well as with various internal units and stakeholders.
- Participate in supply- and integration projects.
Requirements:
- Proven skills and experience in managing Network environments
- Good Ericsson and Non-Ericsson network management knowledge.
- Proven capabilities in analytical trouble shooting.
- A minimum of 2 years knowledge in network elements:
- OSS-RC (1.1, 4.1 & 6.2)
- MN-OSS (7)
- HP NNM (7.5)
- Solaris (sys admin lvl 2)
- Sybase Database Administration
- Sun-MC
- Unix scripting (C Shell, Korne Shell, PERL)
- Windows System Administration
- Veritas NetBackup
- General Telecom knowledge (Core, GRAN and UTRAN)
- Trouble Management tools (MSDP Resolution, BASE Expert Desk)
- A minimum of 1 years knowledge in:
- IP (e.g. NAT’ing, Port Fwd’ing)
- X.25
- SS7

- 24h x 7 on call availability for critical issues
- Availability for initial knowledge transfer abroad, 2-3 months
Nice to have requirements:
- The ability to use OSS-RC, MN-OSS, HP NNM to perform the following functions:
- STS and I/O Troubleshooting o Integrating new 3G Core nodes [Media Gateway, MSC Server, etc]
- Participating in the design phase, and taking into consideration different Dept.’s feedback while preparing the requirements.
- Integrating new 3G Radio nodes [RNC, Node B’s] with OSS.
- Performing different tunings [S/W, H/W] for OSS management systems.
- Performing a lot of integrations between management systems and other nodes in the network.
- Administrate and manage Network Management Applications.
- Perform all UNIX system administration tasks. o Monitor Server performance and availability
- Creating & Maintaining User Accounts
- Security Management of users. o Installing Correction Packages with Ericsson support.
- Perform maintenance tasks for SQL Server including [Altering Data bases sizes, DB Consistency checks, etc]
- Solving user problems with OSS applications [SDM, SMIA, etc].
- Performing Upgrade and Update Acceptance Tests.
- Use HPOV to integrate non Ericsson nodes with the OSS using SNMP Protocol.
