- Responsible for installing, maintaining and upgrading servers.
- Responsible for ensuring the servers are backed up, and that the server data is secure from unauthorized access.
- He/she will often perform light programming (usually scripting, which involves writing programs to automate tasks).
- System Administrator responsability:maintaining the computer systems of a company.
- He/she will participate in the installation, monitoring,
maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software,and communication links as well as coordinate strategic and tactical direction for network services.
- Day to day management of the technical function, taking a lead role in motivation and support of the team:
- Managing the prioritization of IT tasks, allocating resources as necessary and promoting good communication amongst the team;
- Mentoring and developing members of the team and team building
- Experience of complex IT environments and continual improvement of development processes.
- University degree - technical (informatics is an advantage).
- Relevant experience in a similar position.
- Strong leadership/management skills.
- Knowledge of Linux, Microsoft networking and Microsoft server operating systems including expertise with common office software including Microsoft Windows, Access .
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL, Exchange server and other enterprise systems.
- Knowledge of network equipment such as routers, firewalls, hubs, switches and wireless networking.
- Knowledge of network security practices and technologies.
