Job Description
The system engineer will be part of the “EMEA System Engineering Team” and will be responsible for designing systems for Public Safety and Critical Infrastructure proposals in EMEA with the following tasks:
• Understand the functional, technical and other requirements in the RFP and translate those requirements to a system design; thereby ensuring all customer requirements is addressed. Actively participate in requirements matrix analysis
• Involved in technical proposal write up such as (RRFP’s, RFI, Conceptual documents)
• Review and analyze current customer technology infrastructure and its ability to support strategic objectives of the customer along with design and development of proposal. (This includes working with all departments within the organization to assist in the improvement of customer business processes and recommending new state-of-the-art systems or product upgrade.)
• Co-ordinate with Bid Management & System Engineering Manager to support and lead technical related activities during proposal write up period
• Liaise with 3rd party vendors; understand their products on a technical level, and check if there is a ready to go interface with the 3rd party vendor to avoid re-development of the interface. (If the interface is not available then co-ordinate with the product center/local development team to address these requirements.)
• Maintain and detail system architecture, logical architecture during project execution
• Integration of partner products and services into company solutions (Project specific only)
• Work closely with the Software development team in UK, India and Germany
• Convey the requirements in RFP to development using Enterprise Architect, and estimate cost required for developing such the requirements and Interfaces
• Strong understanding in Software design and must use Enterprise Architect for Software modelling such as modelling Use Cases, Sequence Diagrams, Activity Diagrams etc
• Provide pre-sales support for EMEA projects only when required by Head of Sales (This shall include technical presentations and product demo run through; position and present company’s solutions to prospect customer on a pure technical level)
• Work closely with regional sales and support in quantifying the software products and service costing for the proposal
• Stay abreast with technology changes and technology add-ons within the company portfolio
• Work closely with project engineers on-site and ensure that system is implemented as per proposal
• Drive and support POC’s (Proof Of Concept) with the channel partners and/or system integrators
• Participate actively in leveraging the system engineering team to success within the organization
• Shall report directly to the EMEA System Manager
Requirements:
• Proven domain expertise in Public Safety and Security command and control business
• Project execution experience for medium to large size projects in Public Safety and Critical Infrastructure customers
• System engineering experience in the proposal creation and project execution phases
• Hands on project experience with installation, configuration, administration and deployment of solutions in Oracle, SQL server, Windows 2008 server, Virtualization using VMware, and Citrix
• Sufficient knowledge on C# and .Net Framework
• Sufficient knowledge on database technologies
• Worked and designed solutions in Security Systems such as Access Control, CCTV, Intrusion Detection Systems
• Worked and designed solutions for dispatching centers in Public safety
• Understands software interfaces, and must have programmed at least 3 to 4 interfaces in Public Safety and Critical Infrastructure projects
• Sufficient domain knowledge on networks LAN, WAN
• A strong analytical and strategic thinker with a basis to develop complex technical solution designs
• Very good English, French and Flemish language skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a team
• Enthusiastic, outspoken, determined and passionate candidate
• Candidate should be open minded, and should not have issues working with other cultures
• Requires 20 – 30 % travel
Technical Skills:
• Knowledge of Infrastructure design with minimum 4 years solution architecture (design of data centers – Centralized and De-Centralized) experience
• Citrix knowledge with 2 to 3 years hands on experience
• Oracle, Oracle Data Guard & SQL database knowledge with 2 to 3 years hands on experience
• VMware knowledge with 2 to 3 years hands on experience
• Windows 2008 Enterprise knowledge
• Working hands on experience in Crystal reports and Business Intelligence
• Enterprise Architect experience
• Experience in Microsoft Visio
Educational Qualifications:
• Bachelors in Computer Science Engineering (or in relevant engineering field such as Electronics and Telecommunication, Electrical Engineering)
• Masters in Computer Science
• Masters in Business Administration (not a pre-requisite)
