Currently we have a job vacancy in an academic teaching hospital in Austria (state Salzburg), with more than 500 beds.
Young professionals have the chance to complete a full trainee doctor-program (residency program) and finish this education as a doctor for general medicine. This further education lasts 36 months and includes the following contents:
- 12 months of internal medicine
- 6 months of general medicine
- 4 months of surgery
- 4 months of gynaecology and obstetrics
- 4 months of paediatrics
- 2 months of otolaryngology
- 2 months of dermatology
- 2 months neurology/psychiatry
After this 3 years of advanced training you have the opportunity to change in a residency for the specialty of surgery, anaesthesia, gynaecology, otolaryngology, internal medicine, paediatrics, neurology, nuclear medicine, orthopaedics, pathology, psychiatry or trauma surgery (emergency surgery).
Notice! These 36 months from the trainee doctor program, will be completely recognized/partly recognized (depending which residency it is) for your further specialist training and therefore the residency-time gets reduced.
Interested applicants have to absolve a 2-week-shadowing (“Hospitation”) before definite hiring, to familiarize themselves with the new position (free board and lodging for these 2 weeks). After employment you are committed to end up the complete 3-years, afterwards you have all opportunities: work as a general practitioner, for example as a ward physician in hospital or complete your further specialist training in this academic teaching hospital in one of the above-mentioned subjects.
Average annual gross earning: Basic salary including allowances and medical services/medical duty (“Dienste”) > 40.000 Euro per year.
Further perspectives: Emergency medical training possible (the hospital provides the cost), then additional income by ambulance activity in the Alps.
Note! With the conclusion of a general practitioner, in Austria you have not only the possibility to work as a private medical practitioner (Wahlarzt) in your own office, you are allowed to work as a practitioner under the state-health scheme too, which can be very lucrative. (Kassenarzt: has contract for the treatment of health-insured-patients, so they don´t have to pay by themselves compared to the treatment by an private practitioner).
The hospital provides modern accommodation with low rents.
Nursery (kindergarten), and other child care facilities are available in town.
The hospital is located in Austra´s largest ski-region Amadé. Excellent sporting facilities, as well as cultural perspectives through the nearby city of Salzburg are given.
