PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Has the role to ensure that tooling maintenance is carried out correctly and efficiently to ensure maximum up time of injection moulds.
Has the role to troubleshoot and carry out repairs utilising the resources available on site as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensuring that tools are maintained properly to produce components that meet specifications.
- Assessment of tooling following any unplanned downtime.
- Liaising with sub-contract Toolmakers regarding tooling repairs.
- Daily reports on tooling status.
- Daily update of tooling status database to ensure visibility of tooling status.
- Managing the stock of consumable items.
- To ensure that all activities are carried out cost effectively
- Assists in improving injection mould "up-time".
- Coordinates the Tool Shop operations to produce the required parts.
- Responsible for the over performance of the Tool Shop.
- Identifyes and leads continuous improvement and cost reduction activities in the department.
- Supervises the usage and maintenantce of the toolshop machinery.
- Estimates the machining times and costs, keeping a clear evidence up to date.
- Responsible for departmental manpower planning/deployment, recruitment and induction of employees
- Ensuring that all health and safety requirements are met in line with current company and legislative requirements.
- Ensuring that all relevant paperwork is completed throughout the department and that SOP’s are adhered to at all times
- Manage the utilation of the tool shop with adequate machinery;
- Develop the processes of machining the molds cores, spare parts, in order to become self suficient for more then 85% of the spare parts needs;
- Standardize the best practices and standard operating procedures for CNC Machinery;
- Training of the people working in the tool shop, both in the maintenance and machining;
- Technical University Degree;
- Demonstrates skills in toolmaking and in continuous improvement.
- Has experience of managing preventative maintenance and of working to fine tolerancing.
- Has experience of Tooling Hot Runner Systems, multi-cavity systems, and of cleaning and maintaining surface/injection moulding equipment.
- Has experience in a supervisory role in a machine shop environment.
- Strong team orientation, enthusiastic and professional;
