BASIC FUNCTION:
The Engineering Manager is responsible for managing the design and drawing office, establishing and monitoring engineering standards for the development of systems design, providing engineering & environmental services both for Head Office & Site Offices.
DESCRIPTION OF JOB:
- Reports to Operations Manager
- Responsible for the efficiency and profitability of the Engineering Department
- Ensures that the coordination among all disciplines interfaces within the ED is in compliance with the project requirements.
- Main interface with Client for engineering-related activities to ensure that all reasonable requests are met
- Prepares monthly progress report on all projects and closely monitor performance.
- Approves all engineering/design work undertaken by the engineering group in accordance with company QA/QC procedures.
- Assigns the manpower on all engineering projects and shall liaise directly with Project Managers for manning and demanding of engineering staff.
- Selects supporting software programs required to operate the design functions as applicable.
- Assigns specific job responsibility to a person who will keep full control of all documentation produced during the progress of the work.
- Ensures that design activities are performed in accordance with the planned program.
- Provides necessary support & information to the Procurement Mgr for technical bid evaluations
- Manages the preparation of Bid Proposals
- Have supervisory role in preparation of engineering deliverables during bidding stage & modification if any on award of engineering contracts.
- Coordinates the preparation of Bid submittals with Business Development
- Responsible for completion of all engineering works necessary to honor contractual obligations or other undertakings to the client in respect of final handover
- Continually reviews work and QA/QC procedures and modify as necessary
Engineering Degree plus professional registration
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 10 - 15 Years
Computer skills: Microsoft Access, Excel.
EXPERIENCE
- Twenty (20) years experience in engineering of Oil & Gas / Petrochemical projects; 10 years at supervisory level in design engineering
- Experience of managing multi-discipline engineering teams with good motivation and personal relationship skills.
- Computer literate and good communicator at all levels.
- Familiar with value engineering and construct ability reviews.
