Job Summary
► Engineers shall work on networking devices such as routers and switches, and will also be dealing with network infrastructure components such as fiber cables and connectors, media, and protocols that connect the devices in a network.
► Carry out day-to-day operations, maintenance, upgrade and problem determination and resolution of KAUST MPLS network, which consists of, but not limited to the following Cisco network devices:
• 8 CRS(s)
• 60 (7609) Aggregators
• 684 (3750) switches
• 2189 (2960) switches
• 10 (4510) switches
• Routing Reflectors (RO)]
• Cisco Management System
► Engineering responsibility is for operational engineering where requirements are gathered from the network operations center and not changing the architecture or original design intent.
► Engineers will be involved in: configuration, installation, integration, testing, and troubleshooting, and operation of KAUST MPLS network. The position requires SENIOR level understanding / experience with BGP, VPN’s, ACL’s, MPLS, IP, VoIP, Switching, SNMP, H.323, NAT, ICMP, OSPF, ISIS, EIGRP, and other complex routing architectures;
► Enterprise-level knowledge in Routing, Design, Configuration, Troubleshooting and Support of mid to large sized network environments is required.
► They should be able to repair and make improvements to both the physical and logical WAN infrastructure.
► They should document network configurations and diagrams as well as other duties as assigned. Ability to troubleshoot, diagnoses and fix any related problem. They must have knowledge in Routing, Configuration, Troubleshooting and Support of mid to large sized network environments. Experience working with BGP, EIGRP, ISIS is a must.
► Engineers may go on rotational or permanent assignments in the Network Management Center (NMC), where they will be handling proactive fault management, performance management, reporting to the KAUST NMC Lead. They will also be expected to operate and maintain the KAUST internet backbone containing the following:
 Bluecoat SG9000-40 cache engines integrated with websense
 F5 Big-IP LTM 6900 in HA mode
 7609 IGW with multihomed BGP setup.


Required Education / Qualification
► 4 years Bachelors degree or equivalent in Computer Science / Information Systems Engineering,
► Must have 5-7 years’ experience in WAN troubleshooting and related equipment to include the use of sniffers, network monitoring tools, etc.
► Person is required to be a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Internetwork Professional (CCIP), Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP) and preferably CCIE.
