Key responsibilities may include:
To do on and off-site consulting engagements;
To assisting customers with design, development and deployment on the WebSphere Portal platform;
To design and develop relational database systems and their web interfaces;
To maintain and enhance existing Web applications and all internal systems are integrated;
To conduct all user acceptances testing, and report results;
To mentore and traine staff, both internally and on customer sites, often on a one-to-one basis;
To perform customer demonstrations;
To work within both large and small project teams, in close knit and disparate teams;
To keep upto date with relevant technologies, including formal and informal education as well as certifications;
To be able to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines;
To be self motivated, detail-oriented and organized.
Candidates must have the following skills:
Expertise in Web Content Management on the IBM WebSphere Portal platform
Experience of Java development, especially in the Web Application field, including in-depth understanding of Servlet and JSP architectures (and best practices) including custom tag libraries (preferably candidates will be Sun Java certified).
Experience with Eclipse based development platforms, preferably Rational Application Developer.
Strong web design skills including cascading style sheets and Web2.0 technologies
In-depth understanding of Java based Application Servers especially WebSphere Application Server v6 and higher.
Mentoring and training skills.
Strong self motivation and goal setting skills.
The ability to manage your own time as well as ensuring team members in your project team are productive, as well as responding to other pressures outside your control.
Experience within the following areas would be preferred:
Experience of portlet and portal development on the WebSphere platform (preferably candidates will be IBM certified).
Knowledge of WebSphere Portal Administration (preferably candidates will be IBM certified).
Experience of WebSphere Portlet Factory and its use in rapid portal development.
Experience of open source frameworks (such as Jakarta commons, Java Server Faces and Struts), and how they can assist in rapid solution development.
Photoshop and graphic design.
