The Switching Engineer is offering support for all the tasks that are appropriate for his/her technical understanding over telecom equipment and Nobel:
Responsibilities:
• Surveillance of alarms & events & faults occurred in the voice network;
• Monitoring of key performance indicators for the voice network;
• Trouble-shooting and fault management for the alarms & events observed;
• Running periodical scripts, needed for the preventive and repairing activities;
• Dispatching and coordination of field engineers, in case of incidents occurred at sites that need local support;
• Tracking all the alarms & events & faults in the associated ticketing systems;
• Provide technical service and support to internal and external customers;
• Configure and integrate different systems and solutions in new and live environments;
• Verify and implement procedural improvements and changes (down to the level of work instructions) and provide input on structural improvements in processes/work instructions. This is done within the responsibilities of the organizational unit (and adjacent interfacing areas) with the goal to ensure changes are embedded in the daily way of working;
• Change management activities, activation/deactivation of system functionalities, deployment, re-homing, interconnections, end-to-end testing, software upgrade and remote datacenter coordination of activities;
• Provisioning and parameterization activities according to planning and design requests;
• Monitoring of the services, by executing daily routines on the end-to-end services, networks and network components by using generic and specific systems, tools and processes;
• Back-up and restore routines;
• Prepare and update documentation according to specific requirements;
• Prepare and maintain reports and records such as inventory records by site and system, cable schematics and equipment configurations;
• Create and complete daily reports and also properly delivers these reports to those interested in receiving them;
• All activities performed should (normally) be in accordance to internal operational agreements. Interact with other departments within the organization;
• Direct contact with 3rd parties: voice network operators or network equipment vendors to ensure problems/adaptations are solved within set time frames;
• Knowledge / awareness of the following BSS/OSS Products;
• SONUS PSX/SBC/GSX/SGX/DSI;
• DIGITALK MSP;
• CISCO PGW 2200;
• CISCO AS5400/AS5350, 650x, 3750, 720x
• Good knowledge of network provisioning and telecommunication standards;
• Protocol stack knowledge (SIP, H323, SIGTRAN, MGCP, SS7, ISDN, NFAS);
• Knowledge of open source voice platforms: Asterisk, Freeswitch, Opensips, Kamailio;
• Knowledge of database administration MSSQL, MySQL, Postgresql; - must have
• Strong problem solving skills and analytical thinking;
• Ability to work under stressful situations, meet tight deadlines and deliver services with high quality;

Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge / awareness of the following BSS/OSS Products;
• NACT STX/IPAX/NTS;
• IQSIM Call Manager;
• Mediatel;
• Linux administration;
• Basic scripting (Perl,Shell, PHP);
• Knowledge about SNMP and monitoring tools (ex: Cacti, Nagios, Zenoss);
• Knowledge of NAS/DAS/SAN.
