Update kernel, BIOS, firmware and patches as recommended.
Task automation through shell scripting.
Manage and resolve Helpdesk tickets according to Service Level Agreement.
Manage System Backup and Restore via Netbackup or equivalent tool.
Manage user account creation and deletion.
Add swap and/or disk space as recommended
Participate in Bi-Weekly scheduled downtime tasks
Assist with Game Patch Deployment request.
Manage and diagnose basic day to day hardware issues.
Escalate and work with Level 3 administrators to troubleshoot complex issues
Build disk arrays of various RAID levels.
L2 Unix Basic Qualifications:
-At least 4 to 5 years Unix Systems Administration experience specifically in Redhat Enterprise
-Understanding of DNS, NIS, NFS, SSL, PXE boot
-Basic shell scripting knowledge (sh/csh/bash/perl)
-Good understanding of TCP/IP and OSI layer architecture
-Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
-Able to analyze and understand OS related issues.
-Ability to perform system monitoring via sar, vmstat, iostat, etc.
-Excellent written and verbal and communication skills.
L2 Unix Skills Requirements:
OS installation
-Kernel upgrades & tunning
Knowledge of various run levels :
- How to enter into single user mode (in Linux and/or SUN)
- Familiarity with various Eeprom commands at "OK" prompt in Sun
- booting a system from alternate disk (in case of mirrored system disks)
- booting from CD and network (PXE boot)
Patch/Software/Package Installation, upgrade, removal
-driver installation via rpms (along with knowledge of driver files)
-HBA adapter installation
Loading and unloading of modules
Knowledge of system files
RAID Fundamentals
RAID Configurations (both hardware and software RAID.)
Familiarity with various hardware Dell 2950,1850, Rackable, Sun Hardware, HP
Troubleshooting hardware components: hard drives, CPU or RAM (identify bad components)
Able to use Cyclades/Consgate/DRAC remote access tools.
LVM Fundamentals (HP and Linux)
- Volume Group Creation/deletion/modification
- Logical Volume Creation/deletion/modification
- Striping, mirroring
Veritas Volume Management
- vxdiskadm, vx**** commands
File system Fundamentals & associated commands:
- Super Block/Inode structure
- fsck
- fdisk /diskdruid/partd
- mount (various option)
-vfstab
-ext2fs
- journaling, etx3 file system details
- File system Creation, deletion, modification
- Knowledge of NFS, mount , portmapper (along with the services associated with them)
Swap/Paging Fundamentals

Setup & configuration of Heap Memoery for Java
Virtulization Knowledge (primariy XEN).
Fundamentals of FTP, bbcp, ncftpd (along with command line )

Knowledge of IP networking along with OSI layer fundamentals
