Overview:
The System Engineer / DBA position is focused on supporting the customers through the continued support and enhancement of the Company’s information technology infrastructure.
Key points of the job:
Sys Admin, Linux, Oracle, PostgreSQL (at least basic knowledge)
Skills and Abilities:
• Linux and system administration
• Oracle administration
• PostgreSQL administration, configuration and tuning (at least basic knowledge)
• Ability to use scripting languages (Bash, Perl, Powershell and VB)
• SAN administration
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with customers and the technical support organization
• Ability to multi-task
• Good communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work with minimal supervision within a team environment
• Ability to problem solve and project manage activities
• Analytical and problem solving skills that can be applied to solutions for business problems
• It is considered a plus industry certifications such as Oracle, Cisco, Linux, or Microsoft
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Design, installation, and support of Company’s infrastructure including networking, hardware, and operating systems
• Monitor the Company’s infrastructure for issues and bottlenecks
• Infrastructure improvements such as but not limited to performance tuning, usability, and automation enhancements
• Documenting project tasks and milestones
• Recommending enhancements that provide a strategic advantage
• Support the Company infrastructure and provide after-hours support
Qualifications:
• Experience with common internet technologies such web, DNS, email, relational databases etc.
• Experience with CentOS and Ubuntu Linux administration including installation, patching and troubleshooting
• Experience with Oracle database configuration, administration troubleshooting
• Some experience with PostgreSQL configuration, administration troubleshooting
It is considered a plus previous experience in the following, but not a must to know them all:
• Tomcat, Ruby on Rails, and MySQL in a high performance environment
• Scripting experience using Bash, Perl, VB, Powershell and batch scripts
• Storage area network infrastructure
• Microsoft Azure and Amazon AWS
• Previous experience with disaster recovery planning and execution
• Previous experience with Chef or Puppet
• Previous experience with Redis
Compensation:
Attractive salary package – 1800 – 2500 euro, according to experience and skills
