The Role:
• Supervise HSE team
• Conduct HSE and regulatory audits and relevant reporting
• Conduct contractor HSE audits to verify compliance with employer and regulatory standards
•Ensure workers have appropriate training/certifications for tasks performed
• Implement HSE policies and enforce compliance
•Perform HSE risk analysis and management on construction project sites, develop and maintain Job Hazards Analysis (JHA) for site activities during construction and operations
•Develop and maintain a system for reporting, investigating, analyzing and documenting all near misses, HSE incidents and regulatory compliances
•Develop and implement corrective actions plan for all events
•Lead corporate and site safety meetings and manage other safety communications as needed
•Develop an illness and injury prevention plan
•Develop and lead safety training/testing at site for basic safety: Electrical, Mechanical, Hazardous Materials, Fall Protection and Confined Spaces.
•Develop Emergency Response plans for all construction and operations sites
•Develop and maintain an incident/accident database
•Develop and maintain an Environmental Management program.


Essential Skills / Qualifications:

•Bachelor Degree in an applicable field
•Formal training in Safety and/or Risk Management
•A minimum of 8 years of experience in a related field
•Licensed/Certified to act as Safety Officer
•Strong knowledge of The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
•Strong presentation and public speaking skills
•Good leadership skills and ability to plan and problem solve in the field
•Ability to read and write English technical documentation
•Ability to use MS Office Suite
•Ability to travel and work at the development and/or construction site for extended periods
•Ability to proactively plan, establish priorities and allocate resources
•Strong organizational skills.
