RESPONSABILITATI

Department: Calibration

AVL Powertrain UK is currently seeking engine calibration engineers. AVL is the world's largest independent company for the development of powertrain systems as well as instrumentation and test systems. Our engineers work with leading edge tools and technologies to help our customers develop world class products. We develop our people to be experts in both the underlying powertrain technologies and the tools that enable their development.

Your Responsibilities:
• In return for your hard work we provide:
• Competitive salaries with annual reviews
• Training to expand both your technical and soft skills
• A matched contribution pension scheme
• Private medical insurance
• A friendly and supportive international environment
• If you fit the role we look forward to hearing from you.

CERINTE

• Calibration engineers are expected to already have some exposure to calibration in an automotive environment, whether from University courses or industry experience. We expect our engineers to take a proactive approach to understanding our customers’ calibration requirements and to developing their theoretical and practical knowledge on calibration related topics. You will ideally have the inter-personal, communication and presentation skills necessary to make a good impression on customers.
• The majority of our engineers are educated to master’s level or higher in a mechanical/automotive engineering related subject. In addition to academic knowledge, it is also advantageous if you can demonstrate familiarity with calibration tools (INCA, ATI Vision) and data analysis tools such as AVL Concerto. Any knowledge/experience of using DoE tools (e.g. AVL Cameo) is also highly desirable.
• As a calibration engineer you will work with our customers to help them optimise the performance of their engines. You will be expected to take responsibility for test work either on engine test beds or in-vehicle. When required by the customer, calibration engineers are expected to participate in vehicle development test trips that may involve world-wide travel.
• You can expect a significant emphasis on ensuring that the vehicle’s engine-out and tailpipe emissions meet both legislative and customer specific targets. With this in mind, knowledge and experience with emissions controls and aftertreatment systems will be a big advantage.
• Our consultant engineers are typically exposed to multiple different projects during their career working with us. The role is therefore particularly suited to people who will enjoy the opportunity to get experience in new areas and who can rapidly self-start in circumstances that are less familiar.
