The Job Role:

Home care, otherwise known as domiciliary care, is the provision of care and support services that enable individuals to remain independent in their own homes. This often prevents the need for people to enter a residential care setting such as a care or nursing home and is a preferred option for most service users and their families. As people continue to live for longer and choose to remain in their own homes, the domiciliary care sector is set to almost double in the UK over the coming years creating numerous opportunities to quickly develop a career and access senior posts through ongoing training and qualifications - all of which are offered by us for free.

Our Expectations
It is fundamental that you understand what becoming a care worker actually involves before applying for our jobs. In addition there are a few simple but essential values that we look for in potential care workers.
Consideration
The most important and often forgotten aspect of the care worker job role is that of actually ‘caring’ about what you do and the people you are supporting. Care is truly a vocation and a calling for many rather than just a job and we hope to attract those who naturally possess the level of consideration and professionalism towards clients that is often impossible to teach. We expect our home care assistants to understand that although the services you provide are essential, you are first and foremost going to a clients’ home to visit and spend time with them, especially when considering that you may be the only person they see in the day. Our care workers are always encouraged to sit and talk with clients whenever possible. You will meet many great characters along the way and for seasoned professionals it is the clients that make the job worthwhile. Simply sharing a cup of tea and offering companionship means sadly more to those that are lonely than you can imagine.

Commitment
All users of home care services rely on the commitment of the care workers attending to them. As a 24/7, 365 day a year profession, care work can be highly involved and there is a requirement to work unsociable hours at times. Once you book into a shift, or set of shifts, it is important that you commit to this work with the understanding that by not doing so you will potentially leave your clients without the essential care that they need. As a responsible home care provider we have to put our clients needs first in order to deliver continuous, quality care. Although we understand that there are unforeseen circumstances that mean you may be unable to work on occasion, we take a firm approach with repeat offenders and care workers that demonstrate persistent unreliability.
Flexibility
The home care working day usually runs from 7am to 10pm, seven days a week. You will be required to support various shifts within this time and also to work weekends. You will have 1 or 2 days off in the week, however you are free to pick up extra work to increase your hours at any time that you are available. Please also note that some of our work is reactive to client needs and covering new packages. This means that your work runs and rota can change if required by the business and please remember that you are coming here to work and support our company as we continue to grow.
